Widening Participation Project Coordinator (Pre-16) [Temporary Cover]

Applications are invited for a temporary Widening Participation Project Coordinator (Pre-16) post, based in the Cambridge Admissions Office at the Student Services Centre. This post is part of the Widening Participation Team, which develops and coordinates outreach projects to encourage underrepresented and disadvantaged UK students to consider Higher Education generally and the University of Cambridge specifically.


The role holder will be required to take the lead on at least one of our high-quality outreach programmes to engage and inspire prospective applicants to the University of Cambridge and other highly selective universities. The role holder will have a particular focus on pre-16 work and will be required to coordinate projects and deliver events which enthuse and enable younger learners to make informed choices regarding post-16 and higher education options.


The Widening Participation Team works collaboratively, within the office, across the University and with third sector partners, so you would have the opportunity gain experiences across a broad range of widening participation interventions. This role requires some UK travel, evening/weekend activities and working some residential events which may include overnight stays supervising young people during the school holidays.


Applicants should be educated to at least degree level with experience of project and event management as well as having a knowledge of and a commitment to widen participation to Higher Education. Applicants should also hold excellent IT, communication and organisation skills.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.


Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
