VICE PRESIDENT, SALES, MIT Technology Review (MITTR), to direct MIT TR’s sales team. Will coach a team of salespeople building close and trusted relationships with advertisers. Responsibilities include driving and growing Technology Review’s revenue from existing and new client partners; leading and motivating a team of five dedicated salespersons and one support professional to achieve their sales targets and build lasting and commercially successful client partnerships; leading and coaching a team to develop creative, solutions-oriented programs and proposals that build upon TR’s unique sources of competitive advantage in the media marketplace and address and bring value to clients’ business challenges; gathering competitive knowledge and developing ways to sell effectively against competitors; supporting and contributing to ongoing development of TR’s advertising strategy as integrated with its overall business strategy; collaborating with colleagues and the CEO and Publisher on overseeing and managing all vital functions of sales management, including territory planning, quota setting, pricing, reporting, and sales compensation design and administration; supporting profitable growth of MIT TR; preserving and upholding TR’s mission, vision, and values; and supporting, challenging, and inspiring colleagues.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: at least ten years’ experience in advertising sales, particularly custom/native advertising (especially digital) and event and “experience” sponsorships; leadership and management experience, including coaching team members; experience in digital advertising sales and a proven record of exceeding revenue goals; proven consultative selling skills; strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially working across functions; ability to foster a team dynamic; an entrepreneurial approach to business; and established relationships with technology companies and agencies that support the presentation of integrated advertising opportunities.
