The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning’s (VPTL) Evaluation and Research team seeks an energetic and productive teammate to stimulate and support projects that use data to reveal insights into teaching and learning. The project manager will collaborate with both VPTL staff and campus partners to initiate, coordinate, and execute projects and experiments that leverage learning data to generate actionable insights about the educational process.

The project manager will work closely with VPTL’s Center for Teaching and Learning, engineers and platform technologists, and data analysts to shape innovative learning analytics projects that advance the success of Stanford students and faculty. 


  • Oversee all aspects of the mid- and end-term course evaluation systems and process including the budget, relationship with vendors, support to faculty and administrators, and all content on
  • In addition to course evaluations, provide primary project management for all VPTL Evaluation & Research (E&R) activities such as learning analytics, communication and outreach, data governance, and collaborations with key campus partners.
  • Facilitate discussions with relevant campus administrative units to build and maintain collaborations around learning data policy, governance, infrastructure, and reporting.
  • Develop and oversee pipeline process by which all E&R projects are prioritized and executed efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain a project management system to coordinate all E&R projects and ensure key metrics are tracked and reported to stakeholders in an accessible manner.
  • Contribute to VPTL’s learning analytics effort and develop a plan to roll out new services and iteratively improve existing ones.
  • Constantly monitor vendor relationships and technical and user requirements. Develop change management plans when significant adjustments in functionality are necessary.
  • Periodically present E&R work to relevant campus groups and facilitate training workshops.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity with limited performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience. 

Desired Qualifications: 
An advanced degree in education, instructional design, learning sciences, or a related field is preferred. Strong candidates will not only be highly organized and have strong project management skills, but also have demonstrated fluency in basic research methodology and data analysis in educational research.

  • Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.
  • Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
  • Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.
