About the Opportunity

The Team Lead, UNSW Careers plays a key role within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience, Experience Pillar, Employability in leading staff and initiatives that support student career and life design including coaching, programming, workshops, and Faculty collaborations.

The objective of these activities is to activate a high standard of career experiences and readiness to enhance the educational and student experience. This will be achieved by driving strategic reformulation of the whole-of-university approach to careers development, which will require collaboratively designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating, evidence-based, systematic, and responsive initiatives for student career readiness.

About the Successful Candidate

We are looking for someone who is already operating at the forefront of career development in a corporate or university context. The successful applicant will have a background in managing coaching, learning and development, and/or similar activities, be future focused, and will demonstrate how they can bring our operation to the cutting edge.

More specifically you must have the following to apply:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience
  • Extensive experience in:Significant leadership and team management skills and experience with demonstrated success in motivating, managing, coaching, and developing staff and in fostering effective teamwork and effectively diffusing potential areas of dispute and/or conflict
    • the design and delivery, review, and evaluation of leading career readiness practices.
    • online learning and teaching environments and practices;
    • designing innovative career readiness approaches, initiatives, programs and/or activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to: foster and develop innovative student career readiness initiatives, programs and activities, and continuous improvement of practices and outcomes;High level ability to think and work strategically and demonstrated experience in providing high level expert advice through rigorous data collection and analysis, policy submissions, strategic and operational reports, and recommendations.
    • provide leadership in a complex and multi-stakeholder higher education context including strategic planning, committee leadership and oversight of career readiness programs, projects, and other initiatives.
  • Proven ability and record of successfully applying judgement, creativity, and flexibility to solve complex problems including by generating new and innovative ideas and approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain consensus and commitment from others, and to identify and effectively diffuse potential areas of dispute and/or conflict.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
