Provides technical support to undergraduates in practical and field settings and assists with duties associated to teaching support

 

The School of Biological Sciences is seeking a motivated, capable and flexible Teaching Support Officer with experience in laboratory work to join a small team providing technical support for a diverse range of undergraduate teaching activities across the School.

 

This position will work collaboratively with academics and other team members to prepare, set up, implement and conduct laboratory-based classes and assist in the organisation of some field–based teaching activities. This will also include some trialling of experiments and ensuring adequate supplies of materials, chemicals and equipment are available. The position will provide some technical assistance that supports the School’s administrative operations, including infrastructure and HSW matters, equipment and facility maintenance and other general support services.

 

To be successful you will need:

Demonstrated experience in laboratory work with a broad range of technical skills, preferably in molecular biology, microbiology and/or immunology.
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with academic staff, students and other team members.


The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
