About the position

The study program leader must contribute to developing the learning environment and academic and educational quality in the study program. The programme's function is advisory for the line management, and the tasks are performed in dialogue and collaboration with department management, course managers, subject teachers, study consultants at the faculty and students. Development of quality in study programs is a collective task for the academic community.


The study program manager is responsible for annual study program reporting, and has the main responsibility for periodic evaluation of his or her study programs, in accordance with NTNU's quality assurance system.


The study program leader will help to develop a good learning environment for the students in the study program. This entails, among other things, stimulating the students to develop a common identity and belonging to the program, and to develop good relations between students, academic environment and administration.


The study program director for the Master's programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering will also be the head of the study program council for all study programs in the construction area at the faculty (bachelor's, master's and international master's programs). In addition to the management of the program council, the role also entails responsibility for overall academic coordination and strategic development of the study programs within the construction area.

develop the study program's academic content, profile and relevance

make sure that the learning program description of the study program expresses the ambition of the study program and that the courses included contribute to the students achieving the learning outcome in the study program

develop program design with a good connection between the study program description of learning outcomes, learning activities and forms of assessment, and ensure that the courses are coordinated horizontally and vertically

ensure that the study program and teaching forms are research-based and, in consultation with the management, contribute to the implementation of robust research environment

facilitate dialogue and development of academic and educational quality in the study program in relevant forums and processes at the department and faculty, and follow up requirements for quality work described in NTNU's quality system for education 

contribute to the students developing a strong and independent academic identity within the area of study program knowledge

contribute to developing a mutually fruitful relationship with relevant external parties (field of practice / profession / working life / society) within the field of study's knowledge area.

lead joint study program councils, and prepare meetings in collaboration with the other study programs in the construction area

ensure good academic coordination of the study programs with regard to academic integration, coordination and transition from bachelor to master

contribute to the development of the faculty's strategy in the field of education and contribute to its follow-up in the study programs in the construction area

further develop external relations (relevant business sector) on behalf of all programs within the construction area

represent the building area in the faculty's educational committee

eligibility Requirements

technical education at minimum master's level, preferably within the subject areas for the study program

good knowledge of the construction industry and higher technical education

interest in quality of education and quality development in both courses and study programs

Good oral and written presentation ability in Norwegian and English


Wanted qualifications

Documented scientific expertise at doctoral level within one of the subject areas of the program will be emphasized

course in pedagogical basic competence (pedup) or equivalent

experience with change management

experience with quality development of education

Personal characteristics

good co-operation skills and communication skills

strategic and development-oriented

Salaries and terms

The position is paid as senior adviser code 1364, according to competitive terms depending on qualifications and seniority. From salary, 2% of statutory deposits are withdrawn from the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.


The employment is carried out in accordance with the principles of the State Employees Act, and legislation regulating the export of knowledge, technology and services. After hiring, you must expect changes to the work area.
