Position Title: 

Staffing Advisor (PER2A)

 

Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Advisor, this position is responsible for all aspects of non-academic recruitment including planning, sourcing and assessing candidates for positions in the Student Housing and Hospitality Services (SHHS) community. This role will develop sourcing plans, actively source and recruit high quality internal and external candidates and contribute to an online/social media presence.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Undertake all aspects of recruitment cycle from the creation of the job description to the production of the offer letter.
  • Provide professional expertise and advice on the preparation of offer letters, evaluation of needs and on the interpretation of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal clients to understand and identify current and future talent needs and advise on talent acquisition processes, activities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to confirm appropriate approvals are in place, create requisitions and validate job descriptions to ensure roles are marketed to attract top talent.
  • Collaborate closely with other recruiters and HR Advisors to leverage internal pool of talent.
  • Provide trusted expert advice to hiring managers throughout the assessment process.
  • Advise employees on the application of staffing and placement transition policies and other human resources activities.
  • Conduct large number of interviews and phone screens, to process every interested applicant and make recommendations to managers on potential candidates.
  • Develop a strong base of candidates by conducting detailed interviews and reference checks.
  • Provide appropriate, relevant and timely feedback to candidates.
  • Develop and carry out sourcing strategies using social media tools including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Prepares documents required for approvals under the staffing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the updating of staffing policies and procedures and their dissemination.
  • Develop selection standards, employment procedures, interview questions and handbook.
  • Participate in process improvement activities related to talent acquisition.
  • Contribute to position evaluation and reclassification.
  • Make recommendations with respect to staffing and job abolitions requests.
  • Conduct exit interviews and investigate reasons for staff turnover.
  • Provide guidance and oversight in the onboarding, orientation and probation review process.
  • Oversee programs related to diversity and employment equity.
  • Benchmark best practices at other institutions and universities.
  • Participate at meetings, make recommendations and provide solutions.
  • Be an active participant in the R2R project and a resource person for any related issues pertaining to the staffing component of the new system.

 

Minimum Education & Experience: 

Undergraduate degree

Three (3) years' experience

 

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities: 

Minimum of five (5) years of recruitment experience (for professional and unionized positions) with a deep understanding of full life-cycle recruitment is preferred. Background in hospitality recruitment is an asset. Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, knowledge of Workday is an asset. Proficiency in MS Office and internet navigation. Experience in social media and recruitment webpage design and implementation is an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of talent acquisition current best practices including assessment, sourcing and measurement. Knowledge of recruitment metrics (cycle time, quality of hire, etc.). Excellent communication skills, spoken and written, in both French and English (mandatory). Able to build strong collaborative working relationships with managers at all levels and within a team. Demonstrated achievement in sourcing hard-to-find resources. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to show initiative while working in a structured environment. Highly organized and able to manage multiple requests at a time.Solid administrative, organizational and negotiation skills. Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency. HR certification, CHRP (CRIA, CRHA) designation.
