Applications are invited for a Senior Technical Officer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Skills Simulation Resource Centre (CSSRC). The CSSRC has significant skills and simulation-based capabilities and aspires to enhance patient safety through innovative, interactive, evidenced-based and transformative educational experiences.

Reporting to the Head of School or nominee, the successful candidate will have a core role in planning, preparing, and supporting simulation-based teaching, learning, assessment and research and will contribute to the ongoing development of simulation resources within the school and the realisation of the CSSRC’s strategic plan. The appointee will work as an integral member of the CSSRC team and will support module teams and students during all phases of simulation-based activities. This will include problem-solving and expert support of users and learners through policy, training, and innovative solutions.

The post-holder will be responsible for preparing, operating, and maintaining a range of specialised simulation equipment including full-body manikins, task trainers and related clinical equipment. The duties will also involve trouble shooting of level one mechanical, technical and logistic issues and the administration/procurement of department specific software and databases. The role will require excellent planning, communication and co-ordination skills and the ability to work closely with module teams, Information Technology (IT) and the Audio-Visual (AV) support teams, learners, external providers and services and other departments within the College of Medicine and Health.

Appointment may be made on the Senior Technical Officer Salary Scale: €57,493 - €67,618 (Scale B) / €54,714 - €64,330 (Scale A)

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
