The NIHR is embarking on an ambitious and far reaching digital transformation. Do you have experience as a Product Manager, using your knowledge of user needs, technology, data and business goals to frame problems and set priorities? Are you happy to identify, own and resolve complex problems to ensure the delivery of the right products at the right cost and right quality that meet the needs of users?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Product Manager to join the NIHR’s Digital Office to manage multiple products of critical importance to the NIHR and its partners. The role requires expert levels of professional knowledge, an ability to develop a product management culture across an organisation and excellent problem articulation and resolution skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Product Manager to join us in delivering the NIHR’s digital transformation. This is a challenging cross-organisational and national role that provides the bridge between product delivery and the NIHR’s strategic business requirements and the needs of our users. The Senior Product Manager is a key new role in the Digital Office’s team and will be responsible for managing the NIHR’s universal products and services in a complex organisation. As the Senior Product Manager you have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of new products and services, working closely with the Digital Office’s Delivery Manager and other key stakeholders. You will ensure that the organisation can exploit the latest technologies in a manner that meets the needs of all users through the development of user stories and a high-level roadmap. You will possess the ability to quickly establish the confidence of, and develop excellent working relationships with, key stakeholders across the NIHR and the healthcare sector and to effect transformational change throughout the organisation.

While your focus will be on product management and service ownership you will need to guide and coach the service team around a broader range of digital work areas such as user research and service design. You will also be the lead point of contact for key delivery partners such as regulators and key stakeholders, ensuring such stakeholders are actively involved in shaping the future direction of the service.

This role will require an experienced and proactive individual who will relish the opportunity to quickly contribute to a rapidly expanding, diverse and challenging digital transformation programme that directly impacts on the health and wealth of the nation. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, along with a strategic and pragmatic approach will be essential.

The post reports to the NIHR’s Head of Digital Office. You will work with core and distributed teams across a multi-organisational structure working closely with the digital, data and technology leads of the NIHR Coordinating Centres, senior officers of the Science, Research and Evidence Directorate of the Department of Health and Social Care and colleagues in Health Data Research UK, NHS Digital, NHS England, Academia and Research Councils within UK Research and Innovation.
