Function


Database Administrator is responsible Maintains database by planning, monitoring, and improving performance and provides technical support for ERP system/ SIS, Admin Staff, Faculty members and students.


Duties and Responsibilities


Database Administrator performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:


Experience in working for ERP system especially with Student Information modules and possess good knowledge in the workflow on Academic process like Admission, Registration, Degree Audit, and Credit hours.
Working knowledge of Oracle development tools and languages such as SQL and PL/SQL (Expertise in especially Triggers, Procedure and Functions).
Working knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer.
Primary support role within the team and also acts as the point-of-contact for the implemented ERP System
Plans database upgrades by maintaining , evaluating, and improving a transaction processing model.
Assesses database performance by developing a protocol for measurement of results and identification of problem areas.
Supports database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems; designing database management tools.
Secures database by preparing access and control policies and procedures and implementing disaster recovery procedures.
Supports application design by contributing expertise to applications, operations, and technical support teams.
Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Coordinate the day-to-day user support in ERP solution across the organization
Act as troubleshooter and provide high level of support services to end users
Maintains existing programs and a variety of electronic files and/or records (e.g. SIS, Finance system, training components, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring ongoing availability of information to meet the requirements.
Software development and database administration including backups.
Technical support to ERP system and to train non-technical workers on the Universities information systems.
Design systems and assess the effectiveness of technology resources already in use or new systems that are being implemented. Also need to determine the practicality of changes and modification of systems.
Will be working with external partners, including consultants and vendors, to arrive at the most appropriate system or integration of multiple systems.
Coordinate with software Provider Company regarding ERP updates, changes, bugs fixing and all other related issues.
Log all incident reported, classify and assign priority levels
Coordinate with users and System administrators for solving technical issues
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Help and troubleshoot generating the MoHE bills and Liaises frequently with Finance department with respect to fees and payments to be forwarded to Finance.
Support vendor to migrate the current Student Information System data, ERP system to the new ERP/SIS.
Provide support for A&R department during admission and registration.
Generate all type of reports for top management and all departments.
Help in the projection of data and help in the analysis of projected data.
Any other tasks assigned by line manager.

Qualification


Bachelor degree from an accredited university in IT or Computer Science or related field.

Oracle Certification.


Experience


Minimum 5 years of experience in closely related field

Experience in student information system ( credit hour based ).


Job Competencies


Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting databases.
Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
Excellent technical problem solving skills, including identifying and addressing performance problems, system defects, hardware issues, etc.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices.
Strong technical documentation skill.
Strong IT skills.
Fluent in English.
