The Rutgers University-Camden School of Nursing is seeking a qualified senior academic nurse leader who is an energetic thought leader in nursing education dedicated to meeting the needs of a dynamic, global society and diverse student population. As a servant leader, the candidate must have a strong record of inter-professional collaboration in research, education, and practice. A comprehensive understanding of health systems and business acumen to support successful collaboration, a proven record of achievement in practice excellence and innovation, advanced knowledge, and experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement projects, knowledge of business administration, demonstrated leadership skills, are all essential for this important academic leadership role.

This position requires a candidate who is a servant leader with empathy, compassion, and advocacy in advancing health equity and social justice. This faculty member and academic administrator must also have a demonstrated track-record of developing, growing and sustaining mission-driven initiatives in the areas of diversity and inclusion, student support and faculty development.

This position requires working collaboratively with other school administrators, faculty, staff and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to assure that the mission of the school is carried out and that students receive a high-quality education that is cutting edge and meets the needs of diverse populations and the current healthcare workforce environment. The incumbent must work closely in the development of meaningful and impactful partnerships, and the ability to influence and affect change in health systems and in the community.

Key duties and responsibilities will include; developing and executing strategies to educate, promote awareness, and facilitate skills-building to foster an inclusive environment for students, staff, faculty and alumni. Align with the Rutgers University-Camden and the School of Nursing’s commitment to serving the needs of diverse students and fostering the well-being of underrepresented populations. The candidate must have experience with first generation students and effectively inspire and augment the supportive student services in academic progression and retention.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
A doctorate in nursing or a related field (PhD, DNP, or EdD required)
Demonstrated practice experience as an advanced practice nurse (ANP or FNP preferred)
Recognized scholarly experience as evidenced by academic accomplishments, publications, and service commensurate with the rank of appointment
Teaching experience/expertise in both undergraduate and graduate programs
Experience in the development, leadership, implementation, and evaluation of academic and clinical innovation and evidence-based practice initiatives
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated understanding of business administration (i.e., strategic management, return of investment analysis, financial management)
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity
The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences

Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden is an important leader in nursing education, research, and engaged civic learning in community service within southern New Jersey, the Delaware Valley, and beyond. We became the fourth designated school at Rutgers University–Camden in 2011, but our tradition of excellence in nursing education extends to 1972 when the Rutgers University–Camden Department of Nursing was first established. For the past 4 decades, Rutgers–School of Nursing Camden has prepared world-class nurses– educating health care providers, scholars, and leaders from diverse backgrounds who advance change and promote well-being across the homes, hospitals, and communities they serve, while contributing to a Nursing workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities both locally and globally.

The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden Center for Excellence in Inter-professional Practice, Education, and Innovation (CEIPEI) provides opportunities for active learning, promotes inter-professional collaboration, and stimulates innovation in nursing education and practice. The CEIPEI is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). The Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP), a certificate within the School of Nursing’s graduate program, is currently the only accredited graduate level WOC program in the United States. Offered in both online and on-campus formats, the WOCNEP recruits students from across the nation. Our MSN in School Health is the first School Nurse Certificate Program based upon the National Association of School Nurses’ (NASN) Framework for the 21st Century School Nursing Practice™.
