The mission of the Botnar Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH) is to drive scientifically outstanding research and innovation in paediatrics for application worldwide. The Centre was jointly opened in 2019 by the University of Basel and ETH Zurich together with its partners University Children's Hospital Basel and Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute.

The BRCCH is led by two Directors, Professor Georg Holländer and Professor Sai Reddy, and a management office. Together, the team shapes the BRCCH as a unique and dynamic academic entity that closely works with its local and international partner network.

Your position

• Contribution to the Centre's research strategy by in-depth scientific analyses and documentation of established and novel paediatric biomedical research areas and their potential within the Centre's remit
• Supporting the coordination of the existent BRCCH research portfolio and grant assessment of new projects (including management of external reviewers)
• Fostering links with national and international (research) organisations and setting up new partnerships (including moderating sessions, managing new formal collaborations and acting as key focal point for partners)
• Depending on your profile: Responsible for the Centre's initiatives dedicated to early career researchers or technology transfer or fundraising

Your profile

You hold a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences/life sciences and have genuine and broad interest in and strong knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies in health sciences. After your doctoral degree, you worked at least 3 years in research-oriented environments and gained experience in the translation of findings "from bench to bedside".

Excellent analytical, writing, editorial and communication skills and fluency in English are a must - you need to feel comfortable in assessing and summarising a wider range of scientific content. A sound knowledge of standard IT tools is essential. Strong negotiation and presentation skills are necessary. Previous work experience in low- and middle-income countries and/or in paediatric health is an asset.
