Scientific Officer & Partnership Manager | Botnar Research Centre for Child Health

The mission of the Botnar Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH) is to drive scientifically outstanding research and innovation in paediatrics. The Centre was jointly opened in 2019 by the University of Basel and ETH Zurich together with its partners University Children's Hospital Basel and Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Our vision is to advance global child and adolescent health by developing new translational and scalable solutions, especially for application in low- and middle-income countries.

The BRCCH is led by its two directors Professor Georg Holländer and Professor Sai Reddy and an effective management office. Together, the team shapes the BRCCH as a unique and dynamic academic entity that closely works with its local and international partner network.

Your position

  • Fostering links with national and international (research) organisations. Participation in and leading of meetings with a wide variety of stakeholders (including taking minutes, moderating sessions, mapping activities and acting as key focal point for partnerships)
  • Contribution to the Centre's research strategy by in-depth scientific analyses and documentation of established and novel research areas and their potential within the Centre's remit
  • Responsible for the Centre's initiatives dedicated to early career researchers
  • Participation in coordinating the existent BRCCH research portfolio and in establishing future research initiatives

Your profile

You hold a doctoral degree in biomedical science or public health and, after your doctoral degree, have gained experience of at least 4 years in research organisations. Previous work experience in low- and middle-income countries is an asset. Besides having excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, you are motivated to contribute actively to the Centre's mission in becoming an internationally recognized research institute. Ideally, you have a proven track-record in the management of doctoral or capacity building programmes and/or strategic partnership management (eg research collaborations, stakeholder management with donors). Excellent analytical, writing, editorial and communication skills and fluency in English is required; working proficiency in German is an asset. A sound knowledge of standard IT tools is essential.
