Duties and Responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen to join an established team within Research Services, focused on supporting the development and submission of research applications. Working in a busy and supportive environment, the team is responsible for ensuring all UCL proposals to external research funders have been developed in line with all internal and Funder requirements. The role will include assessing the financial integrity of applications, providing expert guidance and support and proactively working with the research and research support communities to ensure applications have the greatest chance of success. The postholder will also be responsible for analysis of research awards made and scrutiny of any associated terms and conditions, prior to acceptance on behalf of the institution. The team work closely with colleagues across UCL, are regularly involved in the delivery of training and development and other outreach activities to provide a holistic and efficient pre-award service.

This position is for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave.

Key Requirements
Suitable applicants will ideally have experience of supporting the development, costing and pricing of research applications to a variety of funders, and should be familiar with TRAC and FEC methodologies. An awareness of the UK research funding landscape or previous experience of working in a similar organisation would be advantageous. This role involves working to internal and funder deadlines, working closely with a range of staff across the institution and providing expert advice and guidance to ensure proposals are submitted in accordance with UCL and Funder policies, and identifying potential financial and non-financial risk within applications. Suitable candidates be highly numerate, with strong written and verbal communications skills, the ability to build productive working relationships and excellent organisational skills.
