About This Opportunity

An opportunity exists to lead and manage a services team of Research Analysts and Laboratory Technicians to deliver high quality sample preparation methods and analytical activities across a range of research and consultancy projects for the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS). The services team develop and deliver best-practise methodologies for contemporary and emerging organic contaminants in biotic and abiotic matrices, such as water, air, soil, blood and urine. This position will have responsibility for managing the QAEHS wet chemistry and analytical laboratories, technical support and training of staff, students and visitors. The position has a high focus on defining and implementing analytical quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) for the Centre and individual research groups.

This role will manage QAEHS’ state-of-the-art analytical facilities for both target and non-target analysis; this includes five Sciex UHPLC-MS triple quadrupoles (5500, two 6500+QTrap, two 7500 QTrap), two UHPLC-MS QTOF (Sciex 5600+ and XR500), a HRGC-HRMS (DFS), a GC Orbitrap, two GC-MSMS with pyrolysis capabilities, and a GCMS with NCI capability.

Further key responsibilities of the Research Manager - Analytical Services can be found in the position description.

This position is located at the QAEHS laboratories at Woolloongabba, adjacent to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
