Research Grants Administrator (Post-award) University of Cambridge United Kingdom

This is an exciting time to join a large, complex and welcoming Faculty with an exceptional international record in teaching and research. Following a comprehensive review of the structure of professional services in the Faculty, we are now recruiting to a number of newly created roles. We are looking for enthusiastic and versatile people with excellent administrative skills to make a positive contribution to our team and to help shape our key services.


As one of two roles based in the Faculty's Research and Finance Office, the post holder will be jointly responsible for providing a comprehensive and efficient research management service to the Faculty across the entire research project lifecycle, with special responsibility for the post-award stages, including project accounting reporting and audits. The role holder will also be required to provide administrative assistance to the Director of Research and Faculty Administrator to support and coordinate the Faculty's research activities more generally, including furthering public engagement with the Faculty's research. Working closely with the Research Grant Administrator with special responsibility for pre-award, it is envisaged that both role holders will help to jointly develop and further expand the Faculty's research profile and grant portfolio. The annual income from the Faculty's research grants and contracts fluctuates but the Faculty as a whole has received circa £15m since 2012, from funders financing research in the arts and humanities and, in particular, in the areas of languages and both theoretical and applied linguistics.


We are looking for a pro-active individual who is highly numerate, analytical and able to work independently and as part of a team with a high degree of accuracy and first class attention to detail. Applicants will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be confident in dealing with individuals at all levels of seniority. You will work collaboratively within your immediate team, and across School and University services, sharing best practice and facilitating continuous improvement. High levels of initiative are required for the role, with the ability to review processes and introduce new ways of working where appropriate in order to ensure the provision of an excellent service.


This is a part time role. The precise number of hours and working pattern to be agreed between the successful candidate and the Faculty Manager on appointment.


The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance. Applications from internal candidates wishing to take up the role as a secondment for a minimum period of 12 months are welcome.
