Position Title:

Projects and Logistics Manager (LOG2A)

Position Summary:

 

The Faculty’s Buildings Office manages approximately 27 buildings to ensure their capacity to support evolving research, teaching and administrative needs of faculty and staff. The Office collaborates with McGill’s central facilities team to provide project management oversight for building and renovation projects valued at approximately $5 million annually. The Office also oversees smaller projects and plans and manages moves, and the provision of furniture.

 

Under the Director of the Faculty of Medicine Buildings Office, the incumbent represents the Faculty in building or renovation projects under $50,000, manages projects of a smaller scale and participates in major projects. The incumbent also manages high scale staff relocations, furniture and asset inventories and oversees support staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

    Represent Faculty of Medicine’s needs in building and renovation projects valued under $50 000.

    Manage smaller scale renovation projects, under $ 15,000 in Faculty buildings.

    Leverage opportunities to optimize projects and budgets by combining needs with those of other projects, or by assessing the increased suitability of alternative spaces.

    Plan and manage office moves within Faculty buildings or in rented spaces.

    Assist the Director Building Services in space audits and planning.

    Represent the Faculty on incidents causing damage to workplaces and user belongings.

    Efficiently and sustainably manage faculty furniture and special assets.

    Complete and update as needed the BDO Service Catalogue outlining the services that the office provides.

    Supervise administrative staff. 

 

Minimum Education & Experience:

 

Undergraduate degree

 

Three (3) years' related experience

 

OR

 

DEC III

 

Five (5) years' related experience

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:

University degree in architecture or engineering is preferred. More than 5 years experience in pertinent space planning, construction project management positions an asset. Membre of the Ordre des architectes du Québec or the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. PMP certification is an asset. Experience in managing & overseeing unionized staff. Excellent fluency in English and French, written and spoken. Experience supervising staff is an asset. Facility to work under pressure and proven ability to cope with frequent priority changes. Proven skills in team building and coaching. A preoccupation for sustainability performance improvement. Proven skills in diplomacy and communications. Excellent problem solving skills.
