Applications are invited for appointment as Project Manager (Policy Research) (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I/II (AAI/II)) in the Asia Global Institute (Ref: 496942)to commence from as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

We invite you to apply for a position in the Institute’s policy research team, which aims to stimulate policy debate and dialogue on multilateral economic framework, US-China relations, geopolitical relations, FinTech, and Technology and Inequality.

As an integral member of the policy research team, the appointee will perform analysis with limited supervision, deliver high-quality output in a timely manner, participate in the development, dissemination and presentation of research findings; and assist in the organization of meetings and events.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics or Social Science.  A Ph.D. degree in Economics, Finance, Political Science, International Relations, Global Development, Public Policy, or related fields is strongly preferred.  They should have proven ability to publish in academic journals.  Strong language skills in English are required and additional Asian language skills is an asset.  Ability to conduct research with and translate Chinese-language materials (familiarity with the Chinese internet, bulletin boards, and social networking sites) would be an added advantage.  They should also have strong proofreading, and editing skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Proficiency in Stata and R, with experience and confidence in manipulating and analyzing large datasets would be a plus.

The appointee will report to the Director of Policy Research.  His/Her key responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: (1) conducting research, creating data sets, and tracking news and data sources for a geopolitical/geo-economic country-index project and for other future projects; (2) writing high-quality policy papers, articles and presentations, based on both his/her own research and others’ academic research work; (3) identifying relevant academic research papers by others and turning them into policy brief/papers for general consumption; and (4) assisting in proofreading, editing, and publishing of research papers and policy briefs.  Applicants with less experience may be appointed at Administrative Assistant II level.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for AAI and 10% of basic salary for AAII.
