We are looking for a:  

Senior Evaluator/Project Manager.

How can international development programmes have more systemic impact? Does improving access to finance for entrepreneurs in developing countries contribute to more jobs for women and youth? Is a minimum price the best tool to achieve a living income for cocoa farmers in West Africa? How can IMF and World Bank best help developing countries to increase their tax revenues? These are examples of questions that our Global Economics & Development practice helps our clients to answer.

Responsibilities:

As Senior Evaluator / Project Manager in Global Economics & Development, you will lead economic research projects and Monitoring & Evaluation projects in the area of international economic development. You will have a senior role and will lead research teams, manage acquisition projects, develop quantitative and qualitative evaluation instruments, supervise and contribute to report drafting, and present results to our clients (who range from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the World Bank). Depending on your seniority, you may have also have a wider managerial role.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Economics or Development Economics (Ph.D is a plus);
  • at least 10 years of relevant research experience, including at least 5 years of experience with carrying out evaluations of international development programmes or other international economic research;
  • at least 3 years of experience with team leadership;
  • strong quantitative skills (e.g. econometric impact evaluation methods, survey design and analysis, economic and financial data analysis, economic modelling);
  • strong qualitative skills (e.g. literature reviews, interviews, and leading focus group discussions);
  • experience with leading acquisition projects and drafting project proposals for evaluation assignments;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills in English (knowledge of other languages is a plus);
  • working knowledge of Dutch is desirable; must be willing to learn Dutch;
  • must have an EU work permit or already allowed to work in the Netherlands.
