Duties and Responsibilities
The Development Planning Unit (DPU) is an international centre specialising in academic teaching, practical training, research and consultancy in the field of urban and regional development and planning. It is concerned with promoting sustainable forms of development, understanding rapid urbanisation and encouraging innovation in the policy, planning and management responses to the economic, social and environmental development of cities and regions, especially in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.  It has an academic and teaching staff of 32 and offers postgraduate education through its research degree (MPhil/PhD) programme and seven MSc/Pg Diploma programmes to approximately 200 international students each year.

The Programme Administrator provides administrative support to the DPU Departmental Manager and Programme Manager on course and student administration and works as part of the administrative team in the general support of the Unit’s function. Also, the post holder is expected to lead the team in the main administration office.

The appointment will be made from September 2019 (or nearest possible date) and is on an open ended contract.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will be educated to a minimum of A level standard or equivalent, with GCSE Mathematics and English language at Grade C or above or equivalent. Also must have excellent administrative skills and a highly proactive approach to providing a comprehensive support service to students and staff.

It is essential to have an excellent communications skills (written and oral) and good interpersonal skills.
