Application WindowOpen date: January 10, 2023 Next review date: Wednesday, Feb 1, 2023 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Jun 30, 2023 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position descriptionUCSB announces an opportunity to coordinate a UC-systemwide effort to create and evaluate a set of interactive online training modules for instructors and teaching assistants focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEI & A) principles of teaching and learning. These modules will incorporate high-quality text and interactive multimedia content, sample assignments, and activities, with opportunities for feedback and reflection. These modules will present DEI & A principles and practices consistent with the latest research and incorporate input from UC faculty and graduate students, as well as stand-out examples from various UC campuses. These DEI & A modules will prepare UC faculty and graduate student teaching assistants and instructors to facilitate inclusive and equitable online, hybrid and face-to-face courses to meet the needs of our diverse students. There is a wide variety of DEI & A materials and resources amongst the UC campuses, each focusing on different aspects of DEI & A and made by many different departments and offices. These materials and resources must be collected from the UC campuses and revised into a cohesive set of online modules that approach DEI & A in teaching and learning from a common perspective that promotes UC policies but are adaptable at individual campuses (e.g., used for a DEI & A certificate for faculty at one institution but for TAs at another). The program manager will manage this complex project with multiple stakeholders and collaborators. This grant project is funded yearly and is led by UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and UC Berkeley. The program manager will report to the project leads at UCSB and work closely with co-PIs at UCI and UCB campuses. The goals for Year 1 of the grant include working with the PIs to do the following activities:
This position is funded by a grant and can be 100% remote and/or located on the UC Santa Barbara campus. A reasonable estimate of salary for this position is $68,000-$74,000 (including benefits), renewable for up to 2 years.
