Program manager (speciallkonsulent) for the Program for Translational Hematology (PTH) DanStem/Finsenlab, BRIC

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent program manager to commence 1 August 2020.

Our research

The Program for Translational Hematology (PTH) is a collaborative interdisciplinary translational research program between NNF Center for Stem Cell Biology (DanStem), Finsenlab/BRIC and Rigshospitalet, established to gain fundamental understanding of hematological malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).

Within PTH we have both academic and clinical research groups as well as core activities including biobanking, drug screening screening, sequencing, and the development of patient-derived xenograft (PDX) disease models. These core functions are used by the research groups within PTH in a collaborative effort to gain understanding of the diseases studied on an individual patient level and to identify novel therapeutic opportunities.

Your job

As program manager for the PTH you will be part of the research administration for the program and have a central role in coordinating activities between the different research groups and the interdisciplinary team of core staff members. You will take part in planning, implementing and coordinating new procedures and other activities within the PTH. You will work closely with both PTH PIs and researchers and serve as a communication link between the two, implementing new strategies with a problem-solving mindset.

You will be particularly involved in the part of the program dealing with the development of PDX models

25% of the time you will be working in the Porse group supporting the research with lab managing tasks and other administrative responsibilities.


We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Specific requirements:

  • A Phd in life science
  • Experience working within the field of hematology, specifically AML or MDS
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with murine models and flow cytometry
  • Experience with GDPR and ethical permits
  • Experience writing experimental permits for animal models.

You are also expected to have the following personal qualifications:

  • Open and service-minded attitude
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Good English skills, written and spoken

Place of employment

The place of employment is at Finsenlab/BRIC, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories and core facilities.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment as program manager (specialkonsulent) (AC-TAP) is a full time and fixed-term position for 2 years. Starting date is 1 August 2020. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
