The Forensic Science Program within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Eberly College of Science at The Pennsylvania State University, located in University Park, PA, invites applications for a Forensic Science Program Director. The Program ( offers both Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC) accredited undergraduate and graduate (MPS) degrees, is home to a broad range of resident instruction and distance learning offerings, and conducts extramurally funded research. The Forensic Science Program Director will have responsibility for a number of critical programs and activities, including: leadership for both the undergraduate and graduate programs; ensure the flow of critical information between the department, FEPAC, and program faculty; and developing, planning, implementing, and administering goals, objectives, and curriculum related to the Forensic Science Program. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to participate in community/ professional outreach. The selected candidate will also be expected to conduct productive and programmatic research, pursue extramural research funding, teach 1-2 courses per year, and mentor graduate students. The anticipated starting date for this position is Fall, 2020. The position requires a Ph.D. in the physical/natural sciences. In addition, the position requires at least five years of relevant academic (preferred) or casework experience. The applicant should have a strong commitment to the holistic approach to forensic science. Area of research emphasis is open (e.g., criminalistics, chemistry/toxicology, biology, and crime scene investigation), but candidates should have a demonstrated record of accomplished forensic science research, including a record of extramural funding. Qualified candidates should also have leadership experience. Applications must include a cover letter highlighting prior professional experience, curriculum vitae, complete list of publications, statement of current and future research interests, teaching philosophy statement, and a list of three to five references. This position is a fixed term multi-year, 48-week appointment funded for three years from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
