About the opportunity

 

Within the 4 year Doctor of Medicine (MD) post-graduate degree, the Mental Health (MH) rotation is taught within the year long subject Clinical Practice 3, in the third year of the program. The MD delivers advanced clinical and academic training to ensure students are prepared for the challenges of a high quality medical internship.

 

This position is based at St Vincent’s Hospital and the successful candidate will report to the Chair of Psychiatry at St Vincent’s Hospital and will work closely under the leadership of the MD Academic Program Coordinator of MH for the Department of Psychiatry for MD program delivery, assessment and evaluation matters.  The MD Mental Health Site Coordinator will ensure quality of teaching, effective evaluation and responses to evaluation, innovation and review of curriculum. Together with the MD Academic Program Coordinator, you will also work with the Department of Medical Education to ensure the MH rotation conforms to University governance requirements and policies.

 

About you

 

To be successful in this role you will need to possess the following:

 

    Medical registration in Australia (or eligible for medical registration in Australia)

    Advanced trainee of postgraduate training in psychiatry (FRANZCP or equivalent)

    An appreciation of contemporary approaches to teaching and learning and educational evaluation in a tertiary education environment

    Evidence of excellence, innovation and broad experience in teaching practice

    Demonstrated excellent management and organisational skills

    Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills, including presentations and publications

    Ethical scholar who values diversity and works effectively with individual differences
