The School of Chemistry at UNSW is recognised nationally and internationally, for producing world-class fundamental and applied research in the field of Chemical Sciences to address real-world challenges. The School's research is focused on five key themes: Health, Energy. Advanced Materials, New Chemical Frontiers and Knowledge Exchange.

The Marketing & Outreach Officer plays a key role in coordinating and managing the marketing and outreach activities of the UNSW RNA Institute.

About the role

  • $89k - $95k plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading (pro rated on part time hours)
  • Fixed Term – 3 years
  • Part-time (17.5 hours per week)

The role reports to the Institute Manager and has no direct reports.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Coordinate and manage a broad range of marketing and outreach activities in the UNSW RNA Institute.
  • Plan, develop and maintain relationships with potential customers, contacts and stakeholders in government, industry, academia and the community.
  • Assist in setting priorities and monitoring workflows within the administrative team as required, providing guidance and training to the administrators and other relevant staff.
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, guidelines and procedures, and play a leading role in their application to ensure the effective operation of the UNSW RNA Institute.
  • Provide support in the delivery of UNSW RNA Institute projects, initiatives and other ad hoc programs.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and plans, outreach activities and events.
  • Design and produce marketing materials (online, print, signage, etc.) and reports for distribution within UNSW and externally
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

About the successful applicant
(Selection Criteria)

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role highly valued.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Highly advanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate marketing and outreach projects and tasks.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
