Purpose of Role

The Planning Manager will lead corporate planning for the university, aligning activities with the University Strategy. The role includes overall direction, coordination, monitoring, and implementation of projects contributing to the University’s Strategic Plan.


Main Responsibilities

Planning & Organizing

  • Support the Deputy Director Planning and Projects in corporate planning for all future academic years.

  • Plan initiatives including projects and other tasks.

  • Analyse and consolidate business requirements for planning purposes.

  • Arrange internal and external workshops/meetings; summarize meeting minutes with emphasis on initiatives and special assignments.

  • Follow up on discussions, decisions, and assignments to ensure timely responses and progress.

  • Develop annual planning templates and tools for Faculties and Professional Services Departments.

  • Support operational directors in preparing plans for upcoming years.

Liaison

  • Ensure relevant topics are captured for stakeholder interactions.

  • Present activities at internal/external meetings.

  • Liaise and build working relationships across the university and with external contacts and contractors.

  • Improve communication among stakeholders to advance projects.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and recommend improvements to policies and procedures.

  • Develop specialist and professional expertise through study and practical experience.

  • Optimize UNNC annual planning procedures and templates.

Customer/Service Support

  • Provide professional advice and recommendations within policy frameworks.

  • Explain technical/legal/regulatory/procedural information to stakeholders.

  • Design and deliver service support mechanisms (training, materials, system modifications) to maximize service quality.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse and summarize business plans for the Deputy Director Planning and Projects.

  • Interpret management data and assist in producing management reports.

  • Supply data to other schools/departments or external organizations.

  • Monitor and maintain records/reports to meet internal and external requirements.

People Management

  • Attend to wellbeing of others (e.g., formal counseling, risk assessments).

  • Advise and gain support from staff, contractors, and external agents to achieve objectives.

Other Duties

  • Participate in training and staff development events.

  • Manage project-related documentation.

  • Maintain professional development and awareness.

  • Undertake other reasonable tasks as required.


Requirements

Essential

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficiency in oral and written English

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Planning and organizing expertise

  • Understanding of internal processes and ability to improve them

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement

  • Proactive and action-oriented

  • Experience in higher education or understanding of university operations

  • Project management or large-scale event management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Project Management, Business Management, or relevant field

  • Proven track record of extensive project management experience

Desirable

  • Experience in business analysis and people management

  • Experience in conflict management

  • Fast learner with critical thinking mindset

  • Knowledge of multiple areas of the university relevant to planning

  • Awareness of developments in higher education affecting the role
