Position Overview

The University of Copenhagen is seeking an experienced and motivated Metabolomics Platform Manager with expertise in analytical chemistry and metabolomics to support cutting-edge research in nutrition, microbiome, and health.

The successful candidate will maintain and develop the LC-MS-based metabolomics infrastructure and engage with a collaborative and dynamic research team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop LC-MS-based metabolomics infrastructure, including day-to-day instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and method development.

  • Implement and refine standard operating procedures for metabolomics analyses.

  • Coordinate metabolomics analyses in collaboration with colleagues.

  • Contribute to training students and staff in LC-MS and metabolomics.

  • Interact with bioanalysts on ad-hoc laboratory tasks.


Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate:

  • Thrives in an academic environment and enjoys supporting research teams.

  • Has a strong drive, attention to detail, and experience handling delicate LC-MS equipment.

  • Is a team player with several years of experience in metabolomics.


Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants are expected to have:

  • A PhD or at least three years of experience in metabolomics, analytical chemistry, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience in liquid chromatography-based metabolomics, including method development, sample preparation, mass spectrometry analyses, data management, and software use.

  • Proven experience collaborating successfully in diverse research environments.

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.


Research Environment

The successful candidate will join the Nutrition, Microbiome and Metabolomics Research Group, led by Associate Professor Henrik Munch Roager, conducting metabolomics and cohort/intervention studies related to nutrition, microbiome, and health.

The research group is affiliated with the Copenhagen Gut Microbiome Hub, which connects leading scientists and industry professionals dedicated to leveraging the gut microbiome to improve health.

Terms of Employment

  • Appointment as Special Consultant, full-time until 31 December 2028.

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.

  • Salary and employment in accordance with the Collective Agreement for Academics in the state sector, with potential supplements based on qualifications and experience.
