The Opportunity

  • Regular overseas and interstate travel required
  • $106,711 $120,233 + 17% super + leave loading
  • 7-year fixed term contract, to 2025 

 

Reporting to the Institute Director and the UNSW Futures Program Manager, key responsibilities include:

  • Secure industry partners who are involved in research funded activities, identify new opportunities and establish key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to secure the long-term viability of the Institute.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Futures Institute strategy in relation to increasing industry engagement and participation.
  • Design and implement a detailed annual operational plan and budget to achieve industry engagement objectives within the areas of responsibility, provide analysis and reporting on progress, identify issues early and promptly implement resolutions.
  • Perform a range of duties to ensure the service requirements of the Future Institute are met; including providing back-up for periods of leave for other members of the Institute and Innovation team.
  • Contribute to laboratory management

The Institute will be a hub to bring together the leading academics and industries who understand the barriers and opportunities to solve complex problems in energy/water, transport, information technology and healthcare. To accomplish this ambition, the Futures Institutes are attracting the very best academic and professional staff to play leadership roles in our organisation.

 

About the Successful Applicant

You can demonstrate your ability to identify and secure industry partners involved in funded research activities aligned with the Institute’s research capabilities and strengths, as well as:

  • Research and experimental skills in a wide range of areas including chemical synthesis of nanomaterials for thin film deposition and high throughput metal manufacturing technology
  • Experience working with the identification of Intellectual Property including preparation of Intellectual property disclosures.
  • Ability to design, initiate and manage projects and events from end to end for industry engagement in line with operational plans.
  • Ability to undertake advanced analysis and present statistical information in a meaningful and informative way and incorporate this into high-quality reports suitable for publication or distribution.
  • High-level communication and negotiations skills, with the ability to establish, build and maintain extensive networks of contacts in relevant industry sectors both within Australia and internationally.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

 

Desirable

  • Business qualifications with minimum Certificate IV in Business or equivalent
  • Demonstrated professional multilingual skills to liaise with external overseas UNSW Futures Institute partners (NAATI certified).
