Human Resources
UQ Human Resources is responsible for enabling achievement of the University’s strategic ambitions through attracting and developing high performing staff, and delivers high quality advice and support to our clients on all aspects of HR and people matters.

 

HR is currently undergoing significant transformation (including new systems, specialist services, process review and redesign, and improved data and analytics capability) to become one of the leading HR functions in Australia. We are building a team of exceptional HR professionals to provide customer focused and contemporary solutions and services for our clients.


The Role
UQ HR is currently seeking expressions of interest for continuing and fixed-term HR Advisor positions across multiple campus locations including St Lucia, Gatton, and Herston.

 

The HR Advisor is the initial point of contact for the day to day delivery of clear and accurate HR advice and support to leaders and staff at all levels at UQ. The HR Advisor ensures consistent application of the HR policy framework to meet the diverse needs of a specific client group. Key areas of focus for this role include:

Client relationships
Performance development and management
Organisational development
Case management


The HR Advisor reports to the HR Business Partner, who is a source of leadership, coaching, and guidance. The HR Advisor will work closely with HR specialist services and an assigned client portfolio.

The Person
To be successful in this role, you will uphold the University’s values and aim to embed these across the organisation through all your interactions with clients.

 

You must be able to quickly build productive working relationships with key stakeholders and clients, where you become a trusted advisor known for your structured problem solving and fair approach to resolving sensitive HR issues.

 

You will hold strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, together with experience in interpreting and applying HR policy and procedures, compliance and risk frameworks, and enterprise agreements.

 

You will possess an undergraduate qualification (or progress towards completion) in human resources, business or a related field with extensive experience in human resources management, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant extensive training and professional experience.


Salary and Benefits
The appointment is at a HEW Level 6. There are multiple positions available across St Lucia and Herston including part-time, continuing and fixed term. The remuneration package will be in the range $77,400 - $83,267 per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% (Total Remuneration package will be in the range $84,753 to $91,177 p.a.).
