Head of Student Engagement, UCC Library

Permanent Whole-Time Post

UCC Library wishes to appoint an exciting and innovative role as Head of Engagement. They will play a key partner and stakeholder role working in collaboration with Colleges, Deputy President & Registrar offices, i.e. Student Experience, Learning & Teaching, the Students’ Union and other communities to ensure that an excellent user experience is central to library service development and delivery. The role holder will lead and engage with a dynamic community, both within UCC and externally.

The role holder will have experience in user-centred strategies and methods to design, deliver and assess effective, engaging and delightful library experiences, both in-person and online. She/he will utilise a data-driven approach to understand library usage and user behaviour to inform strategic and operational planning. Excellent operational experience and delivery will be a key feature of this role, with responsibility for face-to-face and online enquiry services including service points, management and development of the Liaison Librarian, Customer Service, and Events teams. The Head of Engagement will also oversee the management of library buildings, including event management and operational oversight of the library learning spaces and facilities.

The role holder will coordinate organisational improvement including responsibility for identifying and co-ordinating staff development, training and human resource practices within the Library. The Head of Engagement has responsibility for the development of training needs analysis and skills development initiatives for library staff.

Appointment may be made on the Admin I Salary Scale: €70,063-€91,472(Scale B)/ €67,695-€87,027(Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
