Job DescriptionUniversity of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is the first national applied University in the State of Qatar, offering applied Bachelors and Master’s degrees in addition to certificates and diplomas in various fields. The Student Central Services Department invites applications for the position of Head, Career Services.
Your Commitment Reporting to the Manager, Student Central Services, the successful candidate will develop and implement career-related programs and services, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality career services to students and employers.
Duties & Responsibilities Operational The successful candidate will lead the implementation of the strategic plan for the career services function, under the supervision of the Manager, Student Central Services. And collaborate with faculty and academic advisors to integrate career services into the curriculum, as needed; and develop career-related coursework and workshops.
The successful candidate will develop policies that govern career services operations; including but not limited to career counselling, student employment, external employer relations and career fair organization and and maintain relationships with external employers and stakeholders to bridge the gap between student/prospective graduates and professional opportunities; and devise interventions to streamline the process.
The successful candidate will lead the organization and execution of career-related events including the annual career fair of the University, employer information sessions and panel discussions; in collaboration with necessary internal and external stakeholders. Similarly, lead the career counselling program for students and ensure that students are equipped with necessary resources to support them in their career journey.
The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end on-campus student employment program at the University, commencing from the identification of a hiring need to the post employment feedback stage. Simultaneously, manage the job placement services for students; including but not limited to resume and cover letter reviews, job search strategy coaching and interview preparation. Also, manages the administration of the work term program of the University, in alignment with the applicable academic requirements.
The successful candidate will review data on career services programs and outcomes including employment rates, student satisfaction and employer feedback; and report to the management accordingly. Similarly, review existing career services programs, identify gaps if any, and revise existing or develop new programs to respond to the emerging market trends and opportunities.
The successful candidate will help students to understand and navigate UDST policies and procedures. Similarly, assist students in gathering information on, and connecting with opportunities for, extra-curricular, co-curricular and academic enrichment activities, i.e. athletics, professional practice, study abroad, or student involvement.
The successful candidate will support in the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies to promote career services to students and employers. And support the Manager, Student Central Services in developing and managing a budget for career services, ensuring that resources are optimally utilized.
The successful candidate will stay abreast with trends and best practices for career and employment-related strategies, including a comprehensive understanding of the labor market. And perform other job-related miscellaneous duties, as assigned.
People Management The successful candidate will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on UDST’s Employee Performance Management framework and take strict measures on cases of poor performance. And contribute to the development of employees through identifying appropriate learning and development opportunities. QualificationsQualifications
Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required Master’s degree and professional qualification is preferred
Experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience is required
Language: Fluency in written and spoken English language is required Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred
Other Required Skills
