Duties


The Graduate Group in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (GGEB) provides training to approximately 50 PhD students and 5 research MS students. It is administered within the graduate division of Biomedical Graduates Studies (BGS). GGEB’s education and training activities are carried out by approximately 75 faculty members, mostly based in departments in the Perelman School of Medicine but also representing the schools of Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, and Wharton.

The GGEB Coordinator is the lead administrative staff person. The Coordinator works closely with the graduate group chair, program chairs, and faculty on committees for admissions, advising, and the curriculum. The GGEB coordinator oversees all aspects of GGEB administration, in coordination with the program faculty and the graduate division staff, including: student recruitment and admissions, student training activities and records management; student advising, course registration, curriculum development, and course information management; group-wide events; graduate group information and data analysis; program publicity and outreach; student affairs; and operating and recruitment budgets.

Qualifications


A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Prior experience working in an academic environment is strongly preferred. Other requirements: excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written & oral communication skills; adaptability, flexibility, initiative, and good judgment; ability to work autonomously while being responsive to the requirements of supervisors and colleagues.

A high degree of proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software is essential. Experience with database and web publishing software is highly desirable.
