Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Required to work 11:00 am - 7:00 pm one day per week.
Position Start Date: August 12, 2019   Position End Date: February 11, 2020
 
Purpose:
The Field Education Coordinator is responsible for the effective coordination of field education placements in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs; ensures that students are appropriately placed in field education sites, liaises with host agencies and field instructors, and ensures compliance with all protocols, including governmental, accreditation and University legislative requirements.
 
Education:
Bachelor of Social Work Degree.
 
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of social work practice experience. Experience as a field instructor would be an asset. Experience with student support in an academic unit would be an asset.
 
Skills:
Excellent written communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Excellent oral communication skills to elicit information and answer inquiries; interpersonal skills, dealing courteously and effectively with people; tact and diplomacy is essential; making presentations. Ability to obtain and provide information in a clear and concise manner. Exercising good judgment and initiative and maintaining strict confidentiality. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a team. Demonstrated interest in working with diverse cultural groups. Ability to work well under pressure of high volume; setting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines. Ability to coordinate meetings, take minutes and synthesize information into action. Demonstrated skill/ability in word-processing (intermediate MS Word); spreadsheets (intermediate MS Excel); and database skills (intermediate MS Access); electronic calendar/scheduling software and email (Lotus Notes); Student Information System (SIS). Uses software to update websites (e.g., Word Press/Contribute). Typing 40-50 w.p.m.; accuracy is essential. Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
