Requirements


Georgetown University-Qatar (GU-Q) is looking for a Faculty Affairs Coordinator to provide support to the faculty in planning, organizing, and implementing faculty initiatives. This position plays a key role in the coordination of projects such as website content development and maintenance, faculty workshops and conferences, the faculty seminar series, and book launches.


This is a full-time, term role. As this position is based in Doha, Qatar and offers no relocation assistance, GU-Q is looking only for locally-based candidates who have a valid Qatar residence permit.


Responsibilities:


Work closely with the faculty in the development of various activities and programs;
Develop professional and productive relationships with various departments and units within GU-Q, on main campus, and in the wider academic community, to promote and support GU-Q faculty programming;
Under the guidance of the Faculty Chair, manage the development and maintenance of faculty archives, including faculty minutes, reports and other conference programs;
Initiate the preparation of the annual faculty conference in partnership with the Chair of the Conference Committee, including planning and managing conference logistics and programming;
Coordinate and execute logistical aspects of faculty events/workshops, using approved budget as a guideline for organizing activities and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures;
Initiate the annual report process and manage the finalization of the document in collaboration with the Faculty Chair;
Support the Faculty Chair on project-based work;
Work closely with the Faculty Chair on the faculty seminar series in collaboration with the relevant faculty organizers and GU-Q units to ensure planning and delivery of the events;
Work closely with the Chair of the conference committee on planning and delivery of the faculty conferences in collaboration with the relevant faculty organizers and SFS-Q units;
Organize and manage the planning of faculty book launches in collaboration with the relevant faculty member and SFS-Q units;
Manage the development and maintenance of the faculty webpages and blogs in collaboration with the Faculty Chair and relevant GU-Q units;
Follow up and report on various faculty activities and initiatives and prepare the final annual report for the year;
Plan and manage efforts to form research and workshop/ conference partnerships with other entities inside and outside GU-Q;
Coordinate internal and external marketing of faculty conferences, events, and programs in collaboration with the Communications office;
Schedule and take minutes at all faculty council meetings and meetings of standing faculty committees;
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree, in a discipline relevant to the BSFS curriculum preferred;
5+ years of experience in providing management and programmatic support to a department, preferably for a large university or multinational organization;
Experience working with the faculty members or academic staff preferred;
Knowledge of web-paging, media presentation and academia, including research and scholarship;
Knowledge and understanding of faculty services and administration, university procedures and protocol, event and program planning and execution;
Excellent research, critical and analytical thinking skills;
Ability to work independently and take decisions;
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail;
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
Proficiency with MS Office;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Proficiency in Arabic is an asset;
Fluency in English language.
