Equity and Diversity Scientific Coordinator (m/f/d, E 13 TV-L, 100%).

The position starts as soon as possible and is limited until 31.12.2032 (project duration).

The HUMAN ORIGINS Cluster of Excellence researches the last five million years of human history and combines scientific, archaeological, and humanities approaches. The position of the Equity and Diversity Scientific Coordinator is an integral part of the University’s cross-sectional equal opportunity strategy and supports the systematic implementation of gender equality, diversity, and anti-discrimination measures within the cluster. The coordinator will contribute to creating inclusive, family-friendly, and equitable working conditions for researchers at all career stages.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Implement and coordinate gender equality and diversity measures within HUMAN ORIGINS, in alignment with the University of Tübingen’s equal opportunity strategy.
  • Provide targeted administrative and scientific support to professors, PIs, and junior research group leaders with caregiving responsibilities, helping to mitigate structural disadvantages related to care work.
  • Develop and coordinate care-work-friendly and work–life balance measures, including childcare support during meetings and conferences, dependent travel funding, and flexible working practices.
  • Collaborate closely with university-wide units (Team Equity, Welcome Center) and the cluster’s elected Gender Equality representative to ensure coherence between cluster-level and institutional equality initiatives.
  • Support transparent, inclusive recruitment and career development processes, contributing to gender-sensitive hiring and the promotion of mentoring and career development programs (e.g. Athene Program).
  • Monitor, document, and evaluate equality and diversity activities, and contribute to reporting and assessment at cluster and university level.

The requirement profile:

  • Completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent), preferably with a doctorate, in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in gender equality, diversity management, or academic/science coordination, ideally within a university or research institution.
  • Gender and Diversity Competences.
  • Good knowledge of academic structures and third-party funded research, including career paths and administrative processes in German higher education.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and advisory skills, with the ability to work independently in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken.

The University of Tübingen is committed to equity and diversity and actively promotes equal opportunities. Equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference in the hiring process. The University of Tübingen is committed to increasing the percentage of women in research and teaching and thus encourages women with adequate qualifications to apply. The position is generally suitable for job sharing.
