Position Summary

The University of North Carolina Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology / Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery is seeking a Division Director who is a fellowship-trained academic urogynecologist. This full-time, tenure track position, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, requires outstanding administrative and leadership skills. We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual who has a national reputation, leadership experience, strong interpersonal skills and dedication to the tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care, education and research.

The Division Director will lead the Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, comprised of 5 fellowship-trained physicians, 3 advanced practice providers (APPs), 3 ACGME fellows and 2-5 administrative staff. Plans to hire additional APPs and surgeons are in place, given the robust clinical practice and growing patient population. The Division Director’s role includes oversight and strategic planning for the clinical enterprise, as well as direct outpatient and surgical care of complex patients with pelvic floor disorders. Ideal candidates will have experience with minimally invasive prolapse procedures. Administrative duties will include envisioning and implementing how best to enhance the research and educational mission of the division, overseeing professional development of the team members and taking responsibility for the division budget.

The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of the top programs in the country, with more than 100 faculty in 10 different divisions and more than 50 residents and fellows. This department is known for its innovative clinical care, robust research portfolio (ranked #3 in NIH funding) and outstanding training programs (a #3 Doximity-ranked residency program and 8 fellowships).

Educational Requirements

Completion of a 4-year ACGME accredited OB-GYN residency; and completion of a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery are required.

Qualifications and Experience

Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery are required.

Ideal candidates will have prior leadership experience as a Fellowship or Medical Director, in an administrative hospital position or with national organizations and an interest in practice innovation and growth. An established research/scholarly/academic area of focus and a dedication to teaching are also required.
