Director Strategic Projects

This exciting new role is responsible for leading the development and assessment of strategic initiatives being considered by the University in order to achieve the aspirational goals of its new strategic plan, Future Making. The Innovation & Commercial Partnerships branch works across the University to identify, structure and close commercial opportunities with a focus on the University’s teaching and research activities. 

This role is responsible for the management of the Strategic Projects Unit and is required to negotiate with third parties to work on and evaluate the commercial and strategic opportunities available to the University of Adelaide. This involves consideration of structuring options, development of business cases, option and benefits realisation analysis.

To be successful you will need:

  • Extensive experience and proven track record in executing successful commercial/strategic programs, initiatives and projects in a large complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate activities across a team working on diverse projects.
  • Extensive experience in undertaking due diligence, developing business cases and making recommendations for projects opportunities being considered by the University for investment.
  • The ability to effectively engage with consultants, and other such service providers, who may be used from time to time to support the development of business cases.
  • Highly developed stakeholder relationship management abilities including success in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and fostering credibility at all levels.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with University leaders, research academics and representatives across government, business and industry.
