Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Director of Outreach & Strategic Partnerships (OSP) will be principally responsible for building new relationships with prospective individual and institutional donors and identifying prospective public and private funders, with an emphasis on major gift giving, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors, in order to advance the mission and organizational goals of the Judge AW Center. The successful candidate will (1) lead the crafting and implementation of a comprehensive and aggressive strategic partnerships strategy, (2) coordinate and support events designed to build philanthropic support, and (3) work closely with the Development team in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences on solicitations and gifts and to manage and coordinate development efforts, support partnerships, and maintain the Center’s digital presence and public communications outreach.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Passion for the mission and long-term programmatic vision of the Judge AW Center as well as dedication to the work of restorative justice and policy reform in the areas of education, justice, and ethics;
• Experienced relationship builder with a proven track record of successful fundraising for non-profit organizations and comprehensive understanding of what is required to engage, cultivate, and sustain relationships with key stakeholders;
• Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degree preferred) and equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas: fundraising and development, project management, event coordinating, marketing, strategic communications;
• Able to articulate Return-On-Investment (ROI) to potential stakeholders and partners;
• Exceptional social networking and interpersonal skills, esp. in developing relationships with High Net-worth Individuals (HNI) and potential partners;
• Quick and highly motivated learner with experience using CRM platforms (e.g. Sales Force, Abila, Raisers Edge, Reeher) or similar fundraising software database management systems to advance fundraising goals;
• Working familiarity with the philanthropic, corporate, and government funding environments, including shifting priorities, resources, and trends in said spaces; and
• Must be able to work on evenings and weekends as needed.


Advanced degree beyond the bachelor’s preferred.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel independently by car, train, bus, subway, and air. This individual will be required to lift boxes up to 40 pounds and transport items to many different event locations. Approximately 10% local/regional travel is required. Access to a vehicle is required for this position.
