DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND FINANCE, Office of the Provost, to serve as the senior operations administrator for the Office of the Provost. Will oversee all administrative, human resources, and financial operations. This will include budgeting, financial planning and oversight, payroll, and salary certification process; managing/implementing initiatives to improve service delivery and business systems; interacting with DLCs and central departments to resolve issues and respond to information requests; supervising staff, ensuring compliance with MIT policies/procedures, advising on employee relations issues, and identifying professional development opportunities for staff; overseeing implementation of new financial/payroll/personnel systems/processes; and serving as the administrative liaison for Provost Office areas and the schools.


Job Requirements

REQUIRED: at least seven years’ experience in an MIT administrative/management position; knowledge of financial and research administration in an academic or research environment with federal/corporate/foundation sponsors; leadership and supervisory skills; ability to promote team-building and facilitate consensus; ability to integrate new concepts/practices/guidelines/policies/emerging technologies into strategic planning and new business methods; good judgment and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; strong interpersonal, problem-solving, coaching, decision-making, analytical, organizational, project management, strategic planning, customer service, and oral and written communication skills; ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a collaborative environment; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple conflicting and changing priorities; proficiency with Microsoft Office, financial and HR information systems, database software, and SAP; experience recruiting, supervising, and mentoring staff; commitment to diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing; knowledge of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action; and full understanding/mastery of faculty slot allocations and funding methods and the Institute annual budgeting cycle. Bachelor’s degree and experience with SAP, Brio Query/Cognos, COEUS, and Roles Database preferred. Job #17120-Q
