Director of Educator Preparation and Accreditation

Position Summary

The Director of Educator Preparation and Accreditation will be the inaugural leader of our Educator Preparation Program (EPP) across the initial and advanced levels, building it out to become a more robust entity in which the many parts work together and benefit from the interconnectedness. The Director will be the Institution’s lead for CAEP Accreditation, facilitating the creation and implementation of a 7-year plan, writing annual reports and leading the writing of the next self-study, and overseeing College-level support for data entry into and extraction from Student Learning & Licensure software. They will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the College and University to adjudicate issues and document, negotiate, and implement policy that impact multiple areas of educator preparation. This involves supporting the use of data in program improvement at multiple levels; planning and implementing regular communication with EPP stakeholders; participating in, and in some cases leading, external annual reporting (CAEP, Title II, SARA, LARA, MDE); implementing a recordkeeping system regarding Michigan Department of Education program approvals; and creating and chairing or co-chairing a new Educator Preparation Council. The Director will also serve as a resource for undergraduate and graduate College programs across all departments that are participating in the University’s academic program review process.

The Director will work under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs and be a key member of the College’s Academic and Student Affairs leadership team, also performing other duties as assigned. As a faculty member, the Director will teach two courses per year in the Education Preparation Program; teaching duties will include two courses over the annual year, based on the expertise of the successful candidate. Teaching is likely to be at the graduate level and connect to central office or building leadership, school psychologist or reading specialist roles, or special education.
