The successful candidate will also serve as Director of the Tanenbaum Institute for Science in Sport (TISS). The anticipated start date is May 1, 2026. The appointment as Director will be for an initial five-year term, renewable following a successful review. Qualifications Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in kinesiology, sport sciences, or a related health-focused discipline with a strong emphasis on the application of science to high-performance sport. The successful candidate will demonstrate: An international reputation in sport science, sport medicine, or high-performance sport research. Executive leadership experience in building, managing, and directing human sciences research in sport and related areas. A record of sustained research excellence, as evidenced by publications in leading journals, presentations at high-profile conferences, significant external research funding, and major awards/recognition. A demonstrated capacity to lead innovative, independent, and externally funded research programs. Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels, supported by teaching dossiers, reference letters, and a strong record of student supervision. Candidates must also show a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and leadership. Responsibilities As a faculty member, the successful candidate will: Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in kinesiology. Provide outstanding mentorship to students at all levels. Participate in Faculty and University service and governance. As Director of the Tanenbaum Institute for Science in Sport, the successful candidate will: Provide visionary leadership to advance TISS’s mission. Refine and implement the Institute’s research priorities. Foster collaboration across U of T, Sinai Health, the Toronto Academic Health Science Network, national and international sport science leaders, and professional sport organizations. Strengthen financial sustainability through strategic partnerships, donor engagement, and collaborative funding opportunities.
