The Michael G. Foster School of Business has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Day MBA Student Affairs (Academic Services-Associate Director).


The Director of Day MBA Student Affairs is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of program services, co-curricular events, and co-curricular activities to support and enhance the Day MBA student experience at the Foster School of Business in line with the overall objectives of the Assistant Dean for MBA Programs and the Associate Dean for Master's Programs. The Director will also counsel and coach current as well as prospective and admitted Day MBA students regarding academic choices, academic performance, professional development, and personal development. The Director oversees management of the core curriculum schedule as well as team formation. The Director also supervises the MBA electives registration process as it relates to Day MBA students including advising on curriculum options and working with the Director of Evening MBA Student Affairs and the Assistant Director MBA Registrar on course schedules and availability.


Academic Career Coaching, Counseling and Advising

Advise prospective and current students on development options with emphasis on achievement of personal academic, leadership, and professional development goals.
Counsel and advise students on degree progress, options for completing requirements, and UW policies and procedures. Manage the creation and distribution of student grade letters. Ensure that students are provided periodic updates indicating degree progress and remaining requirements. Supervise compilation of quarterly and annual Dean's Lists.
Identify resources within and outside the program to assist individual students.
Serve as focal staff contact for Day MBA students.
Work with students who have special needs (recognized disabilities, medical issues, safety concerns, etc.) to be successful in the Day MBA Program following appropriate University guidelines and in collaboration with campus resources. Work closely with at-risk students to ensure progress to degree completion.
Provide international students with information on immigration regulations as well as guidance on visa issues as related to academic and career planning.
Participate as a member of the MBA Scholarships Committee and communicate scholarship opportunities to students.


Student Engagement with Student Government and Student Organizations

Mentor student leaders. Plan and provide leadership trainings throughout the year.
Advise student groups on use of University facilities and resources. Provide timelines and frameworks for student leaders with regard to student-led trainings, planning, and execution of their roles throughout the academic year. Attend student organization meetings.
Provide historical and archival information to MBA Association leaders and MBA club presidents.
Connect students with key faculty, staff, and alumni.
Advocate for student organizations with the greater Foster School and facilitate connections between all parties.


Student Services Programs and Communications

Develop and deliver programs and services to enhance academic performance and professional development. Specifically: Academic planning, registration, academic research and writing, international student visa-related workshops and other areas of student concern.
Manage the planning process for and execution of orientation programs, LEAD, Jump Start prep classes, and core case competition for first-year Full-time MBA students. Manage and assist with execution of other student services events, such as coffee breaks, dinners, Core case competition, external case competitions, etc. Assist with planning and execution of annual graduation ceremony. Work with other UW entities on campus to provide workshops, sessions, and similar development events to students. Advise on scheduling of professional and skills development workshops and activities.
Annually update handbooks of program and University policies, procedures, and services for incoming students.
Plan, administer, and write content for, a weekly e-mail and web newsletter of important announcements for students and a monthly international student newsletter. Develop other communication vehicles, including social media tools, as appropriate.
Manage the current student website ensuring that information is accurate, timely, and relevant. Provide feedback and suggestions to Foster Marketing and Communications with regard to design, ease of navigation, and usability.


Day MBA Core Schedule and MBA Electives Portfolio Management

Develop core teaching schedules with Day MBA core faculty and the Assistant and Associate Deans (as needed). Manage scheduling interests of faculty, MBA Career Management, other Master's Programs, and Foster-level special events and speakers. Oversee and review assignment of students to Applied Strategy project teams.
Work with the Assistant Director MBA Registrar, Associate Dean, the academic departments, and other staff in the Foster School and across campus to develop a portfolio of core and elective courses that meet student development needs.
Collaborate with Assistant Director MBA Registrar to ensure quality and timeliness of course scheduling information.
Develop and deliver registration-related programming and print materials.


Recruiting, Admissions, and On-Boarding Programs Management

Participate in Full-time MBA Admissions events such as Welcome Weekends to ensure enculturation of new students into the Foster MBA community.
Develop schedule and content plan, with Admissions and Operations teams, for Admitted Student blog, website, and Canvas course. Write specific content for these mediums.
Assist with evaluation of applicants for admission into the Full-time MBA Program by reading applications and conducting interviews as needed.
Travel to various domestic and international locations to participate in MBA information sessions and recruiting events as needed.


Staff Supervision and Leadership
Hire, train, support, and provide opportunities for growth of the Student Affairs Program Coordinator.
In conjunction with MBA Admissions, ensure coverage of the MBA Office Front Desk.

REQUIREMENTS

Master's Degree in Business, education, public administration, liberal arts or a related field.
5 years of MBA student services or other business-related graduate or undergraduate student life or student services work.


Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.


DESIRED

MBA or other professional Master's degree or higher ed experience with MBA students and graduate student services.
