Recruitment PeriodOpen February 1st, 2021 through Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position descriptionThe Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine (DAPM) at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) seeks a board-certified or board-eligible anesthesiologist to serve in a clinical research role, with an opportunity for a leadership position as Director of Clinical Research within the Department. The candidate may also be eligible for appointment as the Thomas Grove Endowed Chair. Working with the Chair and the Vice Chair for Research, the Director will identify areas for new clinical research projects, developing and implementing strategies to increase the extent, impact and visibility of clinical research in the DAPM. The Director will work to increase the involvement of the DAPM in existing and future clinical trials and cohort studies across distinct types of clinical research (e.g. epidemiological, outcomes, health disparity, treatment and prevention) based on the DAPM expertise and strategic goals. The Director will build interdisciplinary teams to compete for federal and private funding for clinical research led by principal investigators in the DAPM. A key strategic goal is to support career development of clinician-scientists and trainees. The Director will report to the Vice Chair for Research. Responsibilities include: Applicants should have MD or MD/PhD degree and show strong evidence of a commitment to independent clinical research excellence. The ideal candidate will have a track record of funding, high publication output, and mentoring of trainees and faculty.
