Recruitment PeriodOpen date: December 23rd, 2020 Next review date: Saturday, Jan 23, 2021 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Saturday, Jan 23, 2021 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) DescriptionThe Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, in conjunction with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, seeks to hire a mid-career full-time tenure track faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor level to serve as Director of the Mood Disorders Clinical and Research Program. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Lori Altshuler Endowed Chair for Mood Disorders. Candidates should have an outstanding, internationally recognized research program in mood disorders with a successful record of extramural funding, a strong interest in a highly collaborative research environment, and the skills and experience to play a leadership role in translation of research findings into clinical practice. All areas of research in which mood disorders play a central role are of interest, with a focus on bipolar disorder preferred. The successful candidate must be qualified to perform clinical service in mood disorders, have a M.D. or equivalent medical degree or be eligible for a California medical license, and be board-certified in psychiatry. In addition to leadership of a research and clinical program, responsibilities will include teaching psychiatry residents, postdoctoral fellows, medical students, and graduate students, as well as mentoring psychiatrists and other scientists who are developing careers in research. The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA is a leading interdisciplinary research and education institute devoted to the understanding of complex human behavior and the causes, prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders.
