About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources, the Director, Wellness & Recovery has broad responsibility for planning, development and overall management of Simon Fraser University's wellness, absence, and recovery management program for staff and faculty.  This includes a focus on promoting health and wellness, creating healthy workplaces, preventing and reducing the impacts of illness and injury, and supporting stay at work, early recovery, accommodation, rehabilitation, and reintegration back into the workplace when injury and illness happens.  The Director ensures programs are framed around industry best practices and are holistic and inclusive of all stakeholders involved in employee wellness and recovery including employees, managers, health practitioners, specialists, employee group representatives, benefit and external service providers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate champion of wellness, who brings extensive in depth knowledge, experience and education in the field of health promotion, prevention and recovery of employees in a large organization. The preferred candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. behavioural sciences, health care, human resources), and a diploma in occupational or vocational rehabilitation, or disability management. The preferred candidate will have ten years of progressively responsible experience in developing and implementing wellness and prevention programs, disability management, return-to-work, accident/injury/illness prevention and rehabilitation, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
