Varsity S Director

Position Summary

Reporting through Spartan Fund, Director of Varsity S Club will help plan, coordinate and oversee special events. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Develop, plan, coordinate and manage assigned Varsity S events
• Maintain the records of departmental projects, functions or events
• Maintain the Varsity S club social media accounts such as twitter, linkedin and facebook
• Assist with event budget development and monitor, analyze, and reconcile related records
• Conduct research on assigned events and for the development of new projects and events
• Schedule, train, and supervise student, on-call, and temporary employees, and volunteers for events and related activities in order to ensure high quality service
• Monitor contracts and agreements in order to ensure that all provisions are met
• Coordinate, evaluate and prepare reports on event activities
• Oversee the preparation of event related publications
• Maintain health and safety standards in order to ensure compliance with University, State, and Federal rules and regulations
• Maintain inventory levels and orders supplies as necessary
• Supervise student employees
• Act as liaison between vendors and users in order to obtain requested project/event materials
• Other duties as assigned

Required Degree

Bachelors

Minimum Requirements

• Four year college degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business or in an area related to the work being performed;
• one to three years of related and progressively more expansive work experience in a field related to the position including planning and managing special events; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and/or presentation software.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous event planning and event management experience. 
• Experience maintaining business social media accounts.
• General knowledge of student-athlete alumni.  
• Experience negotiating contracts for large events. 
• Experience with website maintenance.
