Duties and Responsibilities

The School of Slavonic & East European Studies (SSEES – the School) is seeking to recruit a creative and innovative Digital Media Assistant, who will play a key role in supporting the delivery of SSEES’s various forms for digital marketing, engagement and dissemination activities, including the School’s website, social media channels and our use of the latest media presentation techniques. The post-holder will be a member of SSEES’s dedicated Communications & Engagement Team, which oversees student recruitment, external communication, events and alumni engagement, and will play a key role developing SSEES’s profile and reputation using the latest digital media tools and techniques.

The candidate will be responsible for developing, editing and maintaining the SSEES website using UCL' Drupal based CMS and create, develop and maintain content, imagery and other forms of digital media for SSEES's website and social media channels. 

The candidate will also be expected to film, edit and produce local video content for publication on SSEES's website and social media channels, and review analytical usage data as to SSEES's website and social media channels to support their respective development and enhancement.


Alongside this, the candidate will contribute to the production of other SSEES marketing and promotional materials such as flyers, newsletters and posters. Finally, they will be expected to conduct any other relevant duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by the Student Recruitment & Communications manager. 

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate must have A-Levels or equivalent qualifications and have prior experience of working in a professional environment. The candidate musty also have prior experience of developing and editing web content and experience of planning and designing web sites/pages. 

The candidate must have the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and prioritise work effectively and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must also have excellent desktop IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.


Finally, the successful candidate must possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and have the ability to deal with staff and students in a calm and constructive manner with tact and discretion.
