Deputy Head of Policy Engagement is a new pan-University role intended to develop support for researchers to engage with policymakers. The postholder will work with the Head of Policy Engagement to shape and establish a policy engagement plan across the University, proactively brokering, exploring and supporting new opportunities for researchers.


The successful candidate will need to balance strategic insight with excellent organisational skills, delivering a number of key projects to time and budget, including: developing a programme of policy training and guidance, managing policy-related funds, devising a communications strategy, and designing a coordinated programme of events and communications.


To succeed in this role, the postholder will need excellent interpersonal skills, and a track record of building trust and confidence to facilitate effective internal and external collaboration. Strong influencing skills and strategic thinking will enable the post holder to advise senior managers and gain the confidence of the academic community and policymakers alike. Post holder will be educated to degree level or equivalent.


This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 31 July 2020, with a possibility of extension.
