The role ensures alignment with faculty and university priorities, fosters academic excellence, research integration, and enhances the graduate and postdoctoral experience. Key responsibilities include: Strategic Leadership & Program Development: Oversee new/existing graduate programs, post-graduate diplomas, interdisciplinary programs, and international partnerships. Lead strategic planning and continuous improvement of graduate and postdoctoral programs. Graduate Student & Postdoctoral Experience: Enhance student success, wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging. Governance & Academic Operations: Academic oversight of admissions, enrollment, and funding allocations. Mentorship & Leadership Development: Support and mentor Associate Chairs (Graduate), Graduate Program Directors, and administrators. Funding & External Engagement: Develop competitive funding packages to attract top talent. Research Integration & Postdoctoral Affairs: Support access to research space, resources, and facilities for students and postdoctoral fellows. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI): Advance EDI across all graduate and postdoctoral activities. Some teaching duties will be required. Qualifications Tenured faculty member with a terminal degree in engineering, architectural science, or a related field. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research (SRC), and service. Visionary, empathetic, and collaborative leadership skills with strong organizational ability. Experience in managing large academic administrative portfolios. Familiarity with curriculum design, pedagogical practices, and operational issues in a university environment. Commitment to student success, EDI principles, and fostering an inclusive environment. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, unionized environment. Understanding of faculty and university strategic priorities with ability to integrate them into the role.
