URPP Adaptive Brain Circuits in Development and Learning (AdaBD)

The URPP AdaBD is a new research priority program of the University of Zurich that aims to identify molecular and cellular mechanisms of the development of neural circuits and of their structural and functional adaptations during learning. Using an interdisciplinary approach ranging from the molecular to the systems level, and translating between animal models and humans, we want to disentangle the core elements of adaptive brain circuits during multisensory learning behavior in children and adults. We also aim to translate insights from basic research to the clinic and to develop new diagnostic tools as well as innovative treatment strategies for development delay and learning deficits.

Your responsibilities

  • You maintain the registry database (Filemaker) of the Unit of Special Needs Education (USNE) at the Child Development Center of the University Children's Hospital Zurich as well as the associated developmental delay research database in coordination with our external service provider and carry out administrative work in this context
  • You perform database queries and data exports in compliance with data protection regulations, including pseudonymization/anonymization
  • You perform simple data analyses such as the provision of demographic data, determination of case prevalences and incidences, analysis of regional differences
  • You are responsible for quality management (standardization of entries, checking data quality, feedback to users)
  • You are the first contact person for the USNE and URPP AdaBD teams concerning questions about the database (technical issues, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Implementation of USNE and URPP needs and coordination with the USNE and URPP management teams and the external database support are also part of your job description.

Your profile

  • Education or experience in database management and/or medical informatics and database support
  • Experienced handling of archives and complex databases
  • Experience in process and quality management
  • Advanced knowledge of FileMaker, knowledge of MS Excel, SPSS
  • Structured, careful, independent and quality-oriented way of working
  • Ability to think in a networked manner and to work with an interdisciplinary team
